This place is great!! Just moved to the area from California and have been looking for an upscale place with amazing food and this is it!

Great local dive. Excellent fresh menu prepared perfectly every time. It's pricey but its a fantastic classy dining experience. The bar is a great place to meet with friends and unwind. The bartender Todd is a class act who we look forward to seeing when we go as he remembers our preferences every time.

We were in Johnson City for the National Storytelling festival and wanted to have a nice birthday dinner celebration for a friend. We soon learned that fine dining options are limited in this area. We were glad to find Gourmet & Co. We arrived Saturday night at 7:30, and found fewer than half the tables taken. Not sure if that is the norm or not. It seems that with so few options, this place should have been packed to overflowing. The wine list was good and there were two pages of beer choices. Our waitress was excellent and described the dishes in great detail. We were not keen on fried chickpeas, and she offered fries in substitute. The fries were fantastic. The waitress brought us a sample chickpea fry and we had made the right choice going with the more familiar potato. I had the pork tenderloin - perfectly cooked. The vegetable risotto was the best dish of the night. While not quite up to big city levels, Gourmet & Co. did there best to offer a creative dishes using local fare. It's good to have the choice and I hope the locals find them!

Gourmet and Company is unique. Give it a chance if you're put off when you first walk in; it struck me as pretty pretentious the first time I visited as well. You'll notice as soon as you walk in, it's nice, and the furnishings have a very grand feel about them. Sit and talk for awhile and there's something about this place that makes you want to settle right in and really enjoy the company of the one you're with. Plus they have ginormous snuggle chairs, and who doesn't love a chair built for snuggling? I've never had any of the entrees here as I've just met up with my friends for drinks and desserts. The desserts I've shared with my friends were yummy (huge cupcakes and other delicious pastries). Their coffee is unique too- it's just regular black coffee, but it has a chocolatey after-taste. I've been meaning to ask them what it is, cuz I dig. The bartenders here are friendly. Between the good service, atmosphere, and delicious menu (at least as far as drinks and dessert), it's definitely worth a visit. This would be a good place to go for a date, or maybe after a date when you want to spend some more time talking but don't want to go to someone's house.

Great Bartender and the food is amazing. The Gourmet burger is about as good as it gets and I absolutely love the pimento cheese quesadilla's! I've always had great service there.

Really wonderful, quaint setting. An outdoor cafe in seasonable weather with a fireplace and outdoor bar. The inside has a bar area with over sized stuffed chairs, you feel at home. The food is amazing. Nothing ordinary, everything has a special twist, and is served as art. It is priced on the high end, but worth every penny. They also have a very nice store a couple doors down. Unique gifts.

I'm not from TN, I'm from DC and NYC. I say this, because I know there are probably more restaurants in those two cities than there are in JC. Just a hunch. Anyways, I took a group of people from work to Gourmet & Company and it was a great fit for us. This is probably the best food in JC.

We always have a great time when we go. The atmosphere inside is cozy and intimate, and the outdoor patio is lovely when the weather's not too hot. The servers are all excellent and knowledgeable. We've really enjoyed almost all of our meals there, with a few sparse exceptions...just dishes we didn't really care for. Great place!

Gourmet is head and tails above the other best restaurants in the tri cities area. It does many dishes very well. The duck, beef filet and and any of their fish dishes are masterfully created to your liking. They don't get too adventurous with the dishes like many major cities, but they do everything well. I have never had a meal that was unsatisfying in five or six visits. The setting is upscale and includes a nice small bar and room for private parties. Although expensive, it is worth the price to experience their culinary greatness.

Good restaurant. Good food. I got the seared duck and it was cooked just right. The salad with beets was also very good. Service was good. The only reason for 4 and not 5 stars was the price. A little much but wouldn't keep me from coming back again when in town.

This place is great. Gourmet & Co. Is a true fine dining experience at diner. While the they offer a more relaxed lunch menu and have a bar area, during dinner hours they are five star. The service was fantastic. The scallop appetizer, caesar salad, filet, pork medallions, and desserts were all everything we could hope for to celebrate our fifth anniversary. This place is truly above and beyond.

We stopped here during our 4 day visit to the Asheville, Johnson City, area. We agreed our best meal was had here. Two of us for dinner. The menu is varied and creative. Our food was prepared excellently. We found some better beers on their list than we found at breweries in Asheville. When told about a food allergy it was clear they took the issue seriously and made it a "non-event.. Service: 5 (Zach was great! -- knowledgeable and efficient -- nice guy too) Food quality/creativity: 5 (creative and tasty) Portion size: 4.5 or so Interior/ambiance: 4.5 +/- Value: 4.5 When we return to this area this will be our number one stop. (I know a score of "5" may be suspicious but we really found this place to be THAT good!)

Really enjoyed our experience here. Food was delicious! From the outside it does not look like much but it is beautifully decorated inside. A great place for a special occaision

Very delicious. The duck here is amazing, and the service is always top notch as well. Also, I don't know if they still do wine flights (essentially samplers for various wines), but I have always enjoyed those as well.

If you are looking for a food experience, this is your place. The food is worth the price and the bartender is the best in the Tri-Cities area. The strawberry cupcake is a must!

Very good apricot tea!! This place is upscale but, they do have a lunch menu! Very good food but, it comes with a price! A very large selection of wine! The service has been great everytime i have been there!

Excellent service, excellent food w/excellent presentation. Our group consisted of folks from out of state and we all enjoyed everything. Great idea to have wine flights of any 3 instead of having to get wines already selected. Recommend to travelers from out of town who don't mind spending a bit more to make sure you have an excellent meal.

Johnson City needs more classy restaurants like Gourmet & Co., and while I didn't have a mind-blowing lunch here, I still want to applaud their efforts to bring reasonably priced fine dining to the area. Our server, while not chatty, was prompt in refilling my sister's tea and bringing new water for my hot tea. She also properly presented our plates and seemed to take her job very seriously. I had the fish tacos, which were far from Mexican, but were made from quality ingredients. I don't quite remember what fish was used for the taco, but it was mild, and the chipotle-lime sauce gave the tacos a necessary kick. The restaurant is in a cute little shopping center, with nice, local boutiques worth checking out before or after your meal.

I have to give another perfect score here. Don't judge by the exterior.

Not that impressed with my grouper dish -- rather bland. Strawberry cake for dessert was not very good either -- dry. However, the other folks in my party reported that their steaks and the chocolate dessert were excellent. Our server spoke French, which was a nice touch for our French Canadian guests and the wine server had a nice personality, too. So I suspect that my selections were not the best this restaurant has to offer. Will have to try them a second time.

I live in San Francisco and was recently visiting family in Johnson City. I was so happy to find Gourmet and Company. Their food and service are every bit as good as what you find in San Francisco, and we are known for our great restaurants. If you are going to be in Johnson City, visiting Gourmet and Company is not just a recommendation, its a must!!!
